Everything you
want to know about CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods. It is non-surgical, needle-free and totally non-invasive. There is little to no downtime; walk out of the clinic pain-free and be back to your daily activities that same day.

One of the main reasons we chose the CoolSculpting technology was that the machines have a ‘safety device’ which continually monitors the temperature of the skin during treatment. If the skin is getting too cold then the machine automatically switches off to prevent cold burns.

Each cycle will reduce the amount of fat by 20% – 25% per treatment. We don’t rely on measurements, instead we take extensive photos as this is the best way to truly see the difference. Our clients know they have lost fat as they feel so much better in clothes and often comment that people have noticed.

Despite diet and exercise, fat cells accumulate in the body and can be tough to get rid of, especially in the long term.
Coolsculpting® technology uses controlled cooling (Cryolipolysis) to target, freeze, and kill only these fat cells.
In the weeks following your treatment these fat cells are naturally eliminated from the body.
Coolsculpting® results are long-term, as treated fat cells are gone for good.
Below is a diagram of the fat cells in yellow, which are then frozen (in blue) and expelled from the body naturally.

Coolsculpting University is a globally recognised training program provided by Allergan Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturers of Coolsculpting. The program provides advanced knowledge and techniques to already qualified clinicians. This ultimately delivers safer, more effective outcomes. Ensure your Clinician is a Coolsculpting University graduate.

The CoolSculpting procedure is not meant to be a weight loss solution for those who are obese. The main goal of the treatment is to eliminate targeted unwanted fat packets so that you look and feel slimmer in your clothes. Ideal candidates will be within 10 – 15kg of their goal weight and follow a healthy lifestyle.

We always suggest at least 2 rounds of treatments on each area to get the best results. Some patients see a dramatic difference after their first treatment and do not go on to have further cycles – it all depends on you and the look you wish to achieve.

Treatments can be repeated after one month. We usually recommend waiting the full 3 months to see the results at their best.

The price for a tailored series of CoolSculpting procedures depends on;
  • The area(s) being treated
  • The size of the area
  • How much fat needs to be reduced.

One cycle costs $650 but before we begin, we provide a tailored obligation-free quote to everyone who visits for a consultation.

Some clients have only had to spend $650. Others have been so impressed with their results, they have spent over $10,000.

Unique to CoolSculpting Melbourne is our See a Difference’ Promise which means we are certain of delivering you the results you want.

The original technology (which is now quite old) would result in a frozen section of fat (that looked like a butter stick) when the applicator was removed which would then be massaged immediately after treatment. This no longer occurs as the newer hand pieces are more refined and provide a more advanced cooling process.

During the procedure there may be some slight discomfort and pulling and tugging sensation but most patients find it very relaxing and often fall asleep. The treatment is followed by a 2 minute massage to break down the ice crystals. This can be a little tender but as soon as the massage is over and the nerve endings return to normal you will be ready to continue with your normal daily activities.

For most people the treatment is not painful or uncomfortable. However, there are a few people who do find certain parts of the treatment (the initial cooling phase and the massage phase) uncomfortable. This is very temporary and only lasts for a few minutes.

You should be ready to resume physical activity after 48 hours.

Some patients do experience bruising in the treated area but it is rare.

At CoolSculpting Melbourne we offer all patients the opportunity to benefit from our full body LED machine which aids healing and reduces bruising.

CoolSculpting causes permanent fat reduction by killing the fat cells. These are then eliminated from the body through normal excretory processes. The fat cells will not grow back. However, if you put on weight the remaining fat cells can increase in size but there will always be 20% – 25% less of them!

Most clients see results between 2 and 3 months following treatment and in some cases as soon as 4 weeks. Your body will still continue to remove the destroyed fat cells for up to 4 to 6 months after treatment

During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations may subside as the area becomes numb.

Following the procedure, typical side effects include redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, skin sensitivity and numbness. Numbness can persist for up to several weeks. There may be a sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental (under chin) treatment. These effects are temporary and generally resolve within days or weeks. Though rare, some additional side effects such as paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (gradual enlargement of treated area), late onset pain, freeze burn, vasovagal symptoms (may include dizziness, sweating, fast or slow heart rate, nausea, paleness, etc), subcutaneous induration/hardened tissue, hyperpigmentation and hernia may also occur. The CoolSculpting® procedure is not for everyone. You should not have the CoolSculpting® procedure if you suffer from cryoglobulinaemia (a blood protein disease), cold agglutinin disease (a rare anaemic autoimmune disease) or paroxysmal cold haemoglobinuria (a rare autoimmune disease).
The CoolSculpting® procedure is not a treatment for obesity.
